A Shortcut to Finding Vintage YSL
Years ago on a trip to Seattle I stumbled upon a Rhinestone Rosie, a fantastic vintage jewelry store. While the boutique was chock-a-block full of beautiful '40s, '50s and '60s baubles of every size and price-point, I found a true gem hanging on the shop's lone clothing rack: An ivory Yves Saint Laurent day-dress from the '60s that came with a matching patent belt and $22 price-tag. And the best part? It was even in my size.

The dress has always held a special place in my heart (and closet) as The Best Vintage Score Ever. I never thought I'd come across any other vintage YSL item that was as exciting (or well-priced)--that is, until now.
Yesterday, YSL unveiled a "New Vintage" collection at Barneys' Madison Avenue store. However, you won't find any '60s shifts or retro suits on those racks however: The New Vintage tops, pants, bags and dresses (and even shoes!) are new silhouettes fashioned out of "recycled" fabrics--i.e. unused fabrics from previous collections.
