“A f*****g fraud,” Ex-NHL referee Tim Peel BLASTS reporter Mark Spector over recent Connor McDavid interview in ugly social media spat
There seems to be no end to the misery regarding the Edmonton Oilers this season. As the team continues to struggle for consistent performances on the ice field, there has been plenty of drama off the field. One more such drama broke out when Ex-NHL referee Tim Peel blasted reported Mark Spector over a recent Connor McDavid interview.
As the team endured a 5-3 loss to the Florida Panthers on Monday, the team was once again in the spotlight. McDavid being the captain of the team was once again asked several questions regarding the display of the team.
During this conversation with the current NHL MVP, Spector would ask him whether he would hope for the team to win 4-1 rather than 7-5. It seemed that he meant to ask whether the team would enjoy a comfortable 4-1 win rather than a high-scoring 7-5 result in their favor. The Canadian forward did not seem impressed by his questions and said:
"You love this question. I’ve answered it so many times, we’re trying to keep the puck out of our net".Connor McDavid as per Daily Hive.
Peel was left unimpressed by the questions of Spector and decided to message him. The two would later engage in an ugly spat on Twitter (now called X), where the former official did not hold back from calling out the reporter.

As soon as the interview was released, several users online complained about the questions from Mark Spector. Tim Peel would join them and take to his Twitter (now known as X) account and label it as an “idiotic question“.
Very few would have expected the scenes that proceeded after that. Peel and Spector would exchange heavy blows in their direct message while attacking each other in an ugly online altercation.
When Peel called out the question asked by him, Spector would launch an attack on him while criticizing him for his work as a referee. This was followed by another derogatory remark against the former official. Peel would later end the conversation by saying:

Following this action from Peel, the world of social media was left divided. While some enjoyed the fact that the former referee called out Spector, some came to the defense of the media person.
The Canadian referee has been out of action since his controversial moment was caught on a hot mic. During a game between the Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings, he admitted to preferential penalty-calling. Following this the NHL announced he would not be part of any games after that, thus bringing an end to his referee career.
