“49ers are the real losers”: NFL Insider lashes out at 49ers for not trading Jimmy Garoppolo
The Indianapolis Colts were desperately looking for a new starting QB after trading Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders and they finally ended up roping in Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons. They sent a third-round pick to the Falcons in exchange for the star footballer.
Ryan is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. The star quarterback played college football for Boston College where he impressed one and all with his performances. Recently, Ryan finally went to the Colts and Mike Folio thinks the 49ers missed a trick here.

According to Folio, the 49ers were the real losers after Ryan went to Colts because in his opinion, the Colts would have been perfect for Jimmy Garoppolo. “The 49ers were the losers yesterday when the Colts got Matt Ryan. Because, as of yesterday, at this time, the Colts are maybe the most viable destination for a Jimmy Garoppolo trade,” he stated.
“I was told over the weekend that John Lynch, the GM of the team, is telling people he’s got two second-round picks in hand for Jimmy Garoppolo. And the reaction by some was ‘well, you better take them.’ I misspoke. I misspoke. Two second-round picks. You got two second-round picks in hand, you take them,” he further added.
He claimed that everybody is aware that the 49ers do not need Garoppolo now so it is the right time to trade him and rebuilt. “If you’ve got somebody offering you two second-round picks. Unless they’re in the years 2040 and 2045, you take them,” Folio further claimed.
