3 Ways to Masturbate...Without Using Your Hands

SIMONE BECCHETTI

Just as couples get bored by the same routine in the bedroom, women may want to mix up their solo sex habits too.

According to Kelly Wise, Ph.D., founder of Wiser Sex Therapy Associates, finding new ways to masturbate can allow people to find new ways to connect with their sexuality. "That can be a turn on," he says. "It helps us find ways that we feel most attracted to ourselves, which is not really discussed often, but a major factor of building desire."

So, if you haven't enjoyed hands-free masturbation or mixed up your routine lately, consider these four ways to get off:

Do It in the Shower

Getting vaginal stimulation in the shower or bathtub is a quick, easy, and clean masturbation experience. You can position your body under the running faucet in the bath or move the shower head around to your front and backside to experience maximum pleasure.

Wise has clients who have said that using water—whether a showerhead, Jacuzzi jet, or tub spout—has given them the best orgasms of their lives.

Get a Rubdown

I've spoken with women who have gotten off by humping pillows, rubbing against mattresses, or pushing their pelvis into the side of the sofa or another piece of furniture.

Wise says that rubbing against objects is a great way to engage in self-love. "It allows us to understand how we can move our bodies to further turn ourselves on, whether its gyrating hips, pelvic pulses, etc., and this gives you further knowledge for partner sex," he explains.

Use Your Mind

Yes, breathing isn't technically masturbation, but bear with me here: Breath brings us back to the moment, and presence is a major factor in being turned on, according to Wise. "Doing any sort of mindfulness meditation even for a short time can increase eroticism," he says.
