'He don't give a s***' - Boxing fans surprised as DAZN show backstage footage of Canelo Alvarez kissing wife before John Ryder fight

Canelo Alvarez cut an incredibly relaxed figure backstage before his fight with John Ryder on Saturday night.

The Mexican superstar hosted a homecoming bout in Guadalajara, and so was a massive pre-fight favourite over Britain's Ryder.

As he arrived at the Estadio Akron, footage showed Canelo heading to his dressing room with his wife, Fernanda Gomez.

Unusually, he took her into his dressing room with him and the pair were seen kissing backstage.

This footage was then posted by broadcaster DAZN on social media, showing just how relaxed Canelo was before the fight.

The clip surprised boxing fans, with many questioning the Mexican's focus prior to the contest.

One supporter even commented: "Has he never watched Rocky? Women weaken legs!"

This is in reference to boxing's old adage that sexual activity before fights is a hindrance to performance - something that remains scientifically unproven.
